Cecily ‘s daughter Laine was infected with measles at 10.5 months old. She was too young to be vaccinated for measles.
At the age of 12 years, Laine died from subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), a rare but fatal complication of measles infection that affects the brain and spinal cord.
Greg and Catherine Hughes’ baby son Riley died from whooping cough, a vaccine-preventable disease in 2015, at just four weeks of age.
Through their foundation, Light for Riley, they are determined to prevent this tragedy happening to other families.
