It’s very important that you know how to swim. Also, remember to do your research – not every beach is a surf beach, and the tides and weather make certain times of day better.

What you need
Surfboard (there are different types and sizes, and they can be hired), bathers or wetsuit if it's cold, and sunscreen.
Surfing, like all beach sports, is associated with summer but with practice and a good wet suit, surfing in winter is very possible. Some surfers even prefer it!
