As easy as it sounds, take the dog for a walk, walk to school, head to a park, walk on a treadmill, around the block or down a country road.

Walking is a great introduction to physical activity, and you can take small weights with you to work on your upper body strength at the same time.

If you’re going for a walk outside let someone know where you are going and when you’ll be back, especially if you’re heading out alone.

For health benefits, get your heart rate going by walking fast enough that you start to puff.
